Global Impact · Math Made Simple
Spreading creativity and connection across borders — from South Africa to India to countries beyond.
Focused on spreading creativity and connection, Math Made Simple has gone international. Starting with a partnership with Awarenet, our South Africa Team virtually tutors children in the township of Makhanda, South Africa every Monday morning. Makhanda is among the areas with the lowest levels of math proficiency in the world — a gap we are determined to help close.
This past March, our team travelled to Makhanda. It was an experience of a lifetime — in partnership with Awarenet, Rhodes University, and multiple other organizations, we continued our math program in-person, directly connecting with the students we had been working with over Zoom.
In addition to this, fueled by curiosity, we worked on a short documentary on the anti-apartheid movement — exploring the history of colonialism in South Africa, the resistance of the Xhosa people, and the forces that shaped the broader struggle against apartheid. We are extremely grateful to the countless individuals who made this trip so memorable.
Our other international teams will be taking trips soon. Stay tuned for more information!
